High Caliber Radio Winter Update

Well, due to some technical problems, I haven't been able to get an a new article posted in a while. I'm writing this as kind of an update to let everyone know where we are with some of our projects. I am not going to dwell on the election. I think we all know where gun owners stand with the new administration; But we don't know exactly what or when anything will be introduced, or much less passed. Right now, everything is speculation and assumption. We all know what happens when we assume.

One of the most important things a person can learn is the point at which to stop and let a professional take over. The Caspian 1911 project is now at the gunsmith where the extractor will be tuned and the ejector will be blended to the back of the slide. After the gunsmith is finished, I'll spray it with Poly-Resin and it will be done.

Dennis is still waiting on the 10mm long slide parts. There was a snafu with the frame markings that is being corrected.

The High Caliber Glock 21 project with Lone Wolf Distributors is in the capable hands of Dan and JR at Lone Wolf. They also assure me that the Glock 20 10mm long slide parts will be available soon. We dropped these pistols off with the Lone Wolf guys at the Tulsa Gun Show and we should be seeing them soon. We have some exclusive pictures of Lone Wolf's new frames with shorter trigger reach and even built in lasers.

I started an AR15 Special Purpose Rifle project when I got a good deal on a free float, railed hand-guard and flat top upper receiver at A&B Pawn. With the run on black rifles after the election, I was fortunate to find a complete Rock River lower from D&D Pawn. I then picked up my low profile gas block from the Tackle Box and my reloading dies from Mossy Point Outfitters. The barrel will be an 18” SPR barrel with a 1:8 twist ordered from CMMG.

For an optic, I picked a Millett DMR 1-4x designate marksman scope. This scope has an illuminated donut in the center. The center of the donut measures 10” and the centered aiming dot is 1 minute of angle (one inch). The scope is mounted in an excellent throw lever mount from Larue. As soon as the barrel arrives, I plan on shooting the SPR for groups and testing a variety of ammo from Wolf Steel Case to Match.

We are in the middle of the holiday season, which is traditionally a time to spend with friends and family. So, let me leave you some food for thought while you sit around with the people you care about:

There are only three types of people in the world: Sheep, Wolves and Sheepdogs. Sheep are those wonderful people who go about their lives oblivious to the dangers and evil around them. Sheep as a general rule don't notice a wolf until it is too late. As far as sheep and sheep dogs? Typically the sheep resent and fear sheepdogs because the sheepdog reminds them, with his presence that there are wolves about who mean harm to the sheep. Sheep don't like to think and make hard decisions.

Wolves like sheep, because they taste good and easy prey to catch. Wolves prey mercilessly on sheep because sheep deny the reality that they are defenseless.

Now for the sheep dogs: Sheepdogs understand the danger of the wolf and have armed themselves and vowed to stay aware of their environment to protect not only themselves but the sheep in general from the wolves. Wolves hate sheep dogs because sheep dogs carry concealed weapons and will shoot their a** if they threaten violence.

I choose to be a sheep dog. I carry a gun and I pay attention to my surroundings, always. Do you? Who else in your family can you talk into being a sheep dog? The more sheep dogs there are, the fewer wolves we will have to deal with as they will move on to a place where sheep dogs are not allowed (like up North or maybe California) and the feeding is uninhibited.

Keep your powder dry!
